Susanne, Mark, Marcus (Kelly), My deepest condolences to each of you on the loss of our dear Uncle Fred. Growing up he was such a main pillar in our family and I have very fond memories of him at our various family gatherings and celebrations. I will always remember his vibrant personality, his great story telling and even teaching me the Spanish language basics one year at Easter in Barrie! I will also always have a smile on my face when I think of those infamous gold shoes and his ingenuity to repurpose old items rather than throw them away. No matter the occasion, we always had good laughs together. I really admire him and the risks he took in his life to always be building towards a better one including moving across the world to come to Canada. His bravery and determination led him to become a very accomplished man in both life and career. Our family doesn’t feel the same without uncle Fred and I will really miss him. He made an impact on me ever since I was little. He will remain in my heart forever. Love, Brittany

My deepest condolences to you Susanne, Mark, Marcus (Kelley). Uncle Fred was larger than life, and brought much joy to his family over the years. I have many treasured memories with Uncle Fred at family gatherings, World Cup Soccer Finals at Susanne and Mark's place, or even just playing cards at my Omi and Opa's in Markham. Uncle Fred always made us laugh, telling jokes and funny stories from over the years. My Opa often shares stories of him and Uncle Fred when they first moved to Canada, Uncle Fred having immigrated here first and writing to my Opa that is is 'really nice here in Canada', urging him to immigrate as well. He also tells stories of them getting married, having children, and all the joyous times after that as they built their lives here in Canada. Opa speaks of this time and his brother Uncle Fred very fondly. I will always cherish the memories of Uncle Fred, and I am sending the Douglas family lots of love.

My deepest sympathy Susanne, Mark and Marcus. I am so sad to hear about my Brother Fred's passing. I will miss his wonderful spirit and will hold all of our treasured memories that we made here in Canada and in Germany as children close to my heart. We went through a lot, but together we overcame many hurdles but never quit or gave up hope. You were a remarkable brother Fred and I will love you always, Daniel.

My deepest condolences Susanne, Mark Marcus. I am so very saddened by the loss of Uncle Fred. What an amazing person and remarkable life he lived. He was a kind and caring family man who had such a love of nature and animals. I will always cherish the memories of our camping trip in his tent-trailer with our nature walks and the many summers spent up in Gravenhurst sitting under the tall pines listening to the outdoor music on the Lake. He was a wonderful uncle to us and will be dearly missed.
