So many family dinners in Orillia which would be incomplete without the laughter shared by the Benner sisters about growing up in a household with a loving and fun father who baked great bread, a creative mother making something out of nothing, serious Ralph, mischievous Frank, times at the cottage on the lake. Traits and traditions passed on to the their families. Dear Doug, Leslie and Jim, our thoughts are with you. Photo is of EJ Benner, Hilda with family Verna, Dorothy, Frank, Irene, and Caryl. We are saddened by your loss of dear Verna yet we know she is forever well now in the presence of the Lord! Verna was an active member of Hillside Bible Chapel for as long as she could, always hospitable and helping out in various ministries. She loved the Ladies’ Coffee Hour! She always had that sparkle in her eyes, even as her memory started to fail her. May you be comforted in your mourning and treasure the many good memories!

Mrs Thomson (Verna) was an extremely hospitable and hard working lady. When our family immigrated in 1965 from Scotland to Orillia she showed our family great kindness and hospitality. She had a real desire to be at all times honouring to her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Verna had a life time of service first at West Street Gospel Hall and latter at Hillside Bible Chapel. On October 10th the Lord called His good and faithful servant home to be with Him. Hillside Bible Chapel has lost a very devoted and hard working woman from their Assembly. Verna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother , great gran and a dear friend to many. i have so many wonderful and fond memories of Mr and Mrs Thomson. She has left a legacy of being a faithful helper to all who were blessed to be a part of her life. My thoughts , love and prayers are with John”s family , Doug and his family, Leslie and her family and Jim and his family. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted” Mathew 5:4 Denise
