Neil Thomas Goldsmith Jan. 9, 1939 – Feb. 25, 2026 Neil left us gently on Feb. 25, 2026. Neil was the best son, the best brother, the best husband, the best father, the best son-in-law, the best uncle & the best friend anyone could have. Son of the late William & Pearl Goldsmith of Midland. Brother to Ina Knapp, Gladys (Bill) Gaston – both deceased and the late Glenn Goldsmith (Shirley). Love & partner in life for 62 years with Joan Marie (Chambers) Goldsmith. Much loved father of the late Joseph, John Paul & the late Michael. Brother-in-law of Stephen Chambers (late Dale), Paul Chambers (late Debby), and David Chambers (Nancy). Neil was “adopted” by many young folks; the daughter he never had, Jayne Hatley, her daughter Katherine & baby Neil. Young men who knew he was special include Brian Spry & John White. Neil will be missed by nephews & niece to whom he gave his love of fishing & of the outdoors. Over the 30 plus years Neil worked for the Ministry of Transportation (D.H.O.), he formed numerous, lasting bonds. He enjoyed his time supporting veterans through Army, Navy, Air Force Unit 400, where friends made there were very important to him. As Neil wished - there will be no service. Donations to Homes for Heroes in Neil’s memory would be appreciated and be made through the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street, East Orillia (705) 327 0221.
