Kevin and I were both in Prince George, BC with the Canadian Red Cross and it was there we got to be really close friends.
Kevin loved his Logistics ball cap and was not shy in mentioning it was presented to him for his work he did with the American Red Cross.
Kevin was a great friend and I will miss him always.

Suzanne, I was so saddened to hear of Kevin's passing. Thank you for contacting me directly. Please accept my deepest condolences.
Kevin was such a gem and his heart was so large that only his personality and passionate humanitarian values surpassed it. I was fortunate to spend many months with Kevin with the Canadian Red Cross Disaster Response Team. Kevin's approach, personality and professionalism assisted THOUSANDS of individuals start their recovery from the effects of natural disasters. His kind heart and presence was felt by all that he assisted and those that volunteered beside him.
Kevin was also a proud Newfoundlander and I remember the first day I entered the Disaster Operations Center in BC. He heard "yes b'y" from me across the room and ran over to me to introduce himself. That was the beginning of an amazing friendship.
During our response at the BC Fires we were re-deployed to Grand Forks BC to set up a response center due to flooding. After a few days he had everything set up and the supporting volunteers arrived. Kevin. being Kevin, grabbed me and we went to the local markets and purchased over 16 pounds of various seafoods and prepared the most amazing seafood chowder I have ever has. The chowder was prepared for all the volunteers that had arrived to assist with the response. I make that "Kevin Burke's 16lb chowder" twice a year.
There are too many memories to list but they all are filled with smiles, laughter his passion to make peoples lives better.
Thank you for a wonderful friendship and you true dedication to your humanity of others.

I was saddened to hear that Kevin had passed away; he was a great guy and a good friend. I knew him from back in our days with the Canadian Forces and worked with him any number of times. I recall one time we worked the whole night pulling the engine from his car and replacing the oil pump. The fact that he spent so much of his time working with groups like the Red Cross doesn't surprise me at all; Kev was that kind of guy.
Rest in peace Kev.

I was saddened to hear about Kevin's passing - he was such a great man and humanitarian, giving so much of his time and his dedication to serving others. I met Kevin on my first Red Cross deployment to Manitoba and learned so much from him - he was such a fun personality to work with and he will truly be missed as part of the Red Cross Family.
My sincerest condolences, best wishes and strength to help you all through this difficult time.

Suzanne,
My deepest sympathies to you and your family. Thank you for having shared Kevin with us through out these years. I had the privilege of being Kevin’s teammate (and buddy) on 5 Red Cross deployments (Fort McMurray, Edmonton, Prince George-100 Miles house BC, Timmins and Ottawa). He was a true mentor and friend to many of us. Through out his RC engagements, Kevin helped thousands of people through their hardship and dealt with each one of them with much compassion and respect. Kevin was a true RED Cross ambassador throughout Canada and in the USA. Up until a few months ago, many of us kept in touch through monthly phone calls. He shared with us how much he enjoyed being back home and settling into your new home. I will definitely miss those calls as will cherish my memories of our time together for the rest of my life.
Paul in Ottawa.

Suzanne:
My sincere condolences to you and all of the Burke family at the loss of such a great humanatarium. First met Kevin at the Thunder Bay Floods of 2012 and knew that he was always there for me and others when we needed him. He has done many marvelous humanatarium deeds for so many people in Canada and the U.S. He was a dedicated member of our Logistics "Black Ops" team and never once let any of us down. Worked with Kevin many times after Thunder Bay and always consider him as a friend, a mentor, and an all-round dedicated volunteer. I am sharing a few pictures from those Thunder Bay Floods. More available if you want.

Dear Suzanne,
I am heartbroken to hear this sad and terrible news. Kevin was a huge part of our local Disaster Management team for years. He was very quickly identified by our provincial and national teams as a key volunteer both in leadership and response. I adored Kevin and counted him as a friend... even if he called me at 3 am on his way out the door to a response to say "if I am up, you're up" and then laugh. I have many great memories of my time with Kevin and he came to my rescue more than once. When I think about Kevin a smile comes to my face and my heart feels light. I am grateful to have had him in my life. He was a good man. My heart goes out to you and your family.
Kerry
