Enter even more into the joy of your Lord Fred. The joy of the Lord has always been your strength and you and Sheila shared that joy and strength with so many, including us. So much water under the bridge since we last met. but you both have always been a part of our lives. Remembering you even from a way back as young people leaders at West Street Gospel Chapel, (now the Seniors hall). A life well lived.. "Well done, Good and Faithful!" Graduation Day!

Fred Binns was a Pastor before he got the title of Pastor. Most of us believe the word Pastor is associated with the word Sheppard or Leader. I believe a Pastor is more, yes a Leader, but also a Friend, a Counsellor, and yes a Father. My Dad use to call him Father Fred because he came from a Catholic background, you know what, to so many of the teens and young people that passed through the Bingo Hall on Gill St. and Simcoeside Bible Chapel, he was Father Fred for he was a Father figure to so many.
Many is the time we heard, "(the date) In Dundas Ontario I accepted The Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour." Many was the night Fred and Sheila opened their home to some 20 odd teenagers, for bible study, after Caroling or for New Years eve or just on a Saturday night youth gathering for ping pong or pool, Fred would sit beside someone and out of nowhere his big arm would go around mine or someone else's shoulder and just ask "How are you and Jesus doing?"
From the Bingo Hall on Gill St. to Simoeside Bible Chapel, Fred Binns was the one person you could always go to and talk to.
My Father bought a freezer from Fred when he was with Firestone on Front St. He said to my Dad it's nice to see your boys in Sunday School, you know there is always room for you." My Dad said, "Fred I don't need no preaching." Fred said, "I wouldn't dream of preaching at you Nick, but I think your boys would like the company sometimes." That was Fred not pushy or preachy just letting you know he was there.
The Lord picks and chooses those special people to use in different ways, Fred Binns was used by God in so many ways, Sunday Service Preaching, supporting a baseball team to play other churches to promote fellowship in the city, counseling young couples, and promoting discipleship by coming to young men like myself, Brian Wallace, David Gillett and even his own son Andrew and asking if there was some way we could be involved with Simcoeside.
His laugh, his gentle way, his huge heart.
Fred encouraged so many, young peoples outings to the par 3 golf course and stopping at Weber's, my first time going to Weber's was with Fred, and my Dad even sold him meat, but it was Fred that took me there. Times at Burger King with everyone.
And when we all started dating, did we talk to our parents about it, no, we talked to Fred. Because he was who we trusted, and knew would guide us, as we always saw how the Lord guided him.
Thank you Fred for being there for me, and so many others who were teens and young adults at Simcoeside and at Southward Bingo Hall.
Rest well Thou Good And Faithful Servent

Many special memories spent at the Binns home for youth nights. Fred was always smiling and enjoyed his moments with all the young children at Simcoeside. Travels to Toronto to hear youth singers or trips to camps in his van we always had laughs and good times. Will always cherish these memories.

So many wonderful happy memories of Fred and all the joy and fun he brought to those of us who attended Simcoside Bible Chapel in Orillia as kids and teens. Fred and Sheila gave so much and helped us on our faith journey. Rest in Peace, Fred.
