I'm so sorry for your loss.
I worked with Doug for the last 6 years until I recently changed company, he was always a joy to deal with and every time my phone rang after speaking with Doug I would have a smile on my face.
I wish you and your family all the best at this very difficult time.
My thoughts are with you
regards
Steven Donoghue

I first met Del in the early 1970's at his farmhouse on Derry Rd. He had a bad fast black Trans-Am and took me for some white knuckle rides in the area. He had a bit of a wild side for sure.Family, friends and musicians would gather frequently and Del loved the company. He was in his element. He was the organizer, the take charge guy.During those days he got me a job at United Cooperatives in Mississauga. I will always be grateful for his consideration and his kindness.
In the 1980's Del opened Papa Del's Pizza on Windwood Dr.in New Meadowvale. He also took over the Dry Cleaning store in that plaza being the entrepreneur that he was. I stopped by one evening for some slices. Del asked me what I was up to, and I said I was on my way home . In his own resourceful manner he jokingly said " Drop this PIE off on your way and the slices are covered. "
"Bring the thermal bag and the money back tomorrow and you can be my part time delivery guy starting ASAP" Del always had an angle ! Papa Del made great food, not just Pizza, had a thriving business in the area and was well liked. Then came Domino's and the rest is history. Del relocated to Burk's Falls and later to Orillia .
Since that time we all (Clifford Break, Dave Hill and myself ) made the trek multiple times to be together. Those get togethers will always be remembered and cherished for our life times . Golden Days !
Del and I shared common interests .Gardening and Stamp collecting. We still have his Heirloom Dahlia's in our garden. Some are Darn Close to perfect. On a recent visit we spent time looking over his extensive stamp collection . It was astoundingly meticulous and well organized ! I will always think of Del when I work on my collection.
Del had a passion life. He was an extraordinary person and one of life's unforgettable characters.
He was an incredible friend, always caring.
He will be greatly missed !
We would like to express our heartfelt condolences to Linda , her family and all the Wood family.
The services were PERFECT and very memorable!
Love from Shaun O'Connor and Carol Green

My big brother it was a honour to be your brother. We shared so much of our lives together. We started building a garden with our brothers and sisters. Next we worked together at Trafalgar golf course and were scout leaders for 1st Drumquin .As your journey moved forward you started working at Continental Can Company and that took you to the old farmhouse on Derry Road. I was along for the ride here as well. This is where you met Debbie and were married and eventually landed in Ballinafad. There I helped you with your hobby farm building a barn from skids you collected when you were working at the Co-op in Mississauga. You then bought a pizzeria where I came and made pizzas along side of you. There was a contest in Mississauga and your little pizzeria came in second ! I moved north and it wasn’t long after you headed north to help me build my house. You then brought the cab company in Burks Falls this where you met Linda your wife today. The two of you ran a used clothing store and I had the privilege of helping. From there you moved to Orillia and managed the Eagle Inn. You were recognized by the town for your beautiful garden. You left the Inn and moved down the road where you started Lyndel gardens. Here I joined you and helped you build your buildings that housed your rabbits and birds. We worked together all your life and I was so proud of you ! You were one of the most respected person I have ever known ! This journey you are on now will begin without me but I am looking forward to us connecting again for our next adventure ! Say hi to mom and dad ! Love you big brother . Your little brother Dwayne

Del was the big brother that I would hold in amazement.
He was a cool kid and a rebel at heart.
More importantly, he was devoted to friends and family.
Miss you brother.
