Obituary of Bev Harris

Beverly Ann Harris (née Adams) July 31, 1947 – April 7, 2025 Beverly passed away peacefully at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital on April 7th , 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, to Ernest and Norma Adams (née Berry), she lived a full and vibrant life defined by love, curiosity, and service to others. She will be deeply missed by her devoted husband of 56 years, Frederick Andrew "Andy" Harris; her loving sons Scott (Jaclyn) and Mark (Liz); and her cherished granddaughters Charlotte and Audrey, who brought her so much joy. Beverly is also lovingly remembered by her brothers Paul (Candy), Brian (Michele), and Bruce (Bev). She was predeceased by her brother-in-law Randy (Monique) and his first wife, Nancy. "Aunt Bev" will be fondly remembered by her many beloved nieces and nephews. Beverly had a boundless zest for life and learning; her journey was anything but conventional. She touched countless lives through her years as an elementary school teacher in Hamilton and Simcoe County. She also raised hogs, worked as a chef, drove transport trucks, and, at the age of 66, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Gerontology from Laurentian University. In her last career before retirement, she was deeply committed to bringing dignity and compassion to those in her care as a personal support worker. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ng and Nurse Kelly, as well as the entire team at the Hudson Regional Cancer Program at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, for their kindness and care during Beverly’s treatment. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street E. in Orillia on Friday April 11th, 2025, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital in Beverly’s memory would be gratefully appreciated.
