Cliff Turner

Obituary of Cliff Turner

Clifford Dale “Cliff” Turner Tuesday, August 6, 1946 – Sunday, May 4, 2025 The family of Cliff Turner is extremely saddened to announce his untimely passing after a brief and sudden illness at Toronto General Hospital, May 4, 2025. He was 78 years old. Cliff was born in Mount Forest, Ontario and was the only son of Roy William Turner and Mary Isabell (Peavoy). In his younger years in Fergus and surrounding area, he played hockey, was active in lacrosse, and enjoyed fishing along the banks of the Grand River. He spent many years portaging in Algonquin Park with his son and had canoed the Petawawa and Missinaibi Rivers. Cliff was an active runner and fulfilled his lifelong dream of completing the Gasparilla Marathon in Tampa, Florida, in 2009. For ten years, Cliff enjoyed being a winter snowbird in Arizona with his wife, Sharon, where he took up long-distance cycling and billiards. He took great pleasure in meeting new people and liked to keep busy by organizing events and helping out where he could. He enjoyed watching all sports, but was a lifelong fan of the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. Cliff was a dedicated family man and a long-time employee of the City of Orillia for 36 years. To say Cliff had a strong work ethic would be the understatement of the century. Whether it be perfecting his lawn and garden or training for a run or bike ride, Cliff gave it his all. The same can be said for his personal relationships, where he maintained lifelong friendships near and far. He was always up for a chat with neighbours, friends or family. He was a great guy in every sense. No task brought him greater joy than preparing for visits from his grandchildren, as he was a proud and doting Grandpa. He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of 32 years, Sharon Turner. He will be deeply missed by his children, Tracy Turner (Don) and Philip Turner (Nichole); his grandchildren, Sydney and Vaughn Turner; and his dog, Murphy. As per Cliff's wishes, cremation has taken place, and no service will be held. If desired, expressions of sympathy can be made through a donation to The Sharing Place Food Centre in Orillia, a charity he strongly believed in. Memories and messages of condolence for his family will be graciously accepted and appreciated. He will be forever loved and missed!
