Pat Slater

Obituary of Pat Slater

Slater, Patricia Joyce Passed peacefully at Uxbridge Hospital, surrounded by love and family, on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at the age of 93. Pat was a tremendous inspiration to her family. Nothing ever held her back—she lived life on her own terms, right up to her final moments. She embraced every experience and found joy in the beauty of nature, whether it was traveling whenever the opportunity arose, visiting casinos along the way, or painting, and water skiing with loved ones at her cherished home on Lake St. John. Pat's fearless spirit, creative soul, and zest for life touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. It was at the airbase in Gimli, Manitoba, where she met her beloved husband, Allan Slater (predeceased). Pat was the cherished daughter of Marjorie Bythell (predeceased), and a devoted and loving mother to Wayne of Orillia, Randy of North Bay, Larry of Orillia, and David (predeceased). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Tammy, Kaitlyn, Dylan, Colton, Shannon, Stefanie, Melissa, Shania (predeceased), Lisa, Jennifer, David, and Joey (predeceased), and a proud great-grandmother to Journey, Tripp, Ruby, Myla, Kylie, Paisley, Peyton, Tonya, and a great-great-grandmother as well. Pat’s diverse career included work in hospitality, real estate (timeshare), and even LEGO, all while dedicating her time to volunteering in the Lake St. John community and being a devoted wife and mother. Her professional passions naturally extended into her personal life—she was a proud member of the Red Hat Society and was known for sharing her homemade sweets with everyone she met during her travels. Her warm smile and generous heart will be dearly missed by her many friends and extended family, including Kay, Dianne, Irene, Jan, and Sandra. Cremation has taken place. A small service will be held on Wednesday September 17th at 12:00 PM for anyone who wishes to attend at St. James - St. Andrews Cemetery, in Orillia, and a celebration of Pat’s life will be held in the spring for all her friends and family. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Pefferlaw & Lions Housing Corporation through the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James St. E., Orillia (705-327-0221).
