Obituary of Donald Harold Giles

Giles, Donald Harold Passed away peacefully at Trillium Manor in Orillia on Saturday September 13th, 2025 at the age of 97. Long time employee of Dorr-Oliver-Long, charter member of Westmount United Church as well as a Cub & Scout leader. His many hobbies included woodworking, golfing and curling. Don was known for his quiet and gentle manner and was always willing to lend a hand. His sparkling eyes and beautiful smile will always be remembered by those that knew him. Don dearly loved his family and was greatly loved by them. Beloved husband of the late Joan Giles (nee Wright, passed 1986). Loving father of John Giles (Shirley) and Kathy Mann (Bruce). Cherished grandfather of Melody (Tony), Daniel (Cristina), Adam (Danielle), Michelle (Scott) and great grandfather of Ryan. Predeceased by his siblings Ben, Albert, Doug, Eileen and Bill. Don will be truly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends. The family wishes to express their thanks to the compassionate staff at Trillium Manor. Visitation will be held at the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James St. E. Orillia on Wednesday October 1st, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service in the chapel at 12:00 p.m. A reception will follow.
