Mrs. Brown was always happy, energetic and positive! She loved life and lived it to the fullest!! She was always there and available, ready to jump in and offer assistance, almost like a second mother. I can remember her driving me to various activities, as my mom didn't yet drive (or didn't have a car) and my dad was working. As I grew up, she always popped over to my parent's house on Exford to see how I and my family were doing. She would give an update on all the people we knew in common, and then would ask for an update on our family - she even remembered my children's names! Everyone who knew Mrs. Brown, loved her!! What a great friend of the family!! She will be dearly missed.
Sorry I can't be there today, but my thoughts and prayers are with all of your family. Scott, Erin and Laurie, you have been raised by one of the best!
Love, Carolyn Holt (Cahill)

Doreen was a wonderful lady, always positive and upbeat, an inspiration to her family and friends. She was a stalwart at our former Church, Wexford Heights United in Scarborough, an active participant in all aspects of our church community. We also remember her with affection as she was a great friend of our late mother, Phyllis Eriksen, for nearly 60 years! No doubt they will renew acquaintances again in Heaven. We extend our condolences to all members of the Brown/Butash families.

We brought our neighbour Janet Rudyk to see her Aunt Doreen. It was one of the best things we did to make our neighbour happy to see her aunt. They were both excited to see each other and there was no greater honour to do so.

My deepest condolences to the family of Doreen. "Great" Grama B -- you were nothing shy of a saint and you showed your character through your love and kindness to everyone else. There was no bad days or no bad news when you were around, because you would always find the positive behind the negative. I can't remember one time where you were angry. You were so patient, kind, caring, loving, encouraging and just an absolute wonder of a person. I would love to share a favourite moment with you, but every moment with you was memorable. Thank you for welcoming my husband and step-kids into our family like your own and loving them so fiercely- you became the worlds greatest "great-great" grama B -- you will forever live on in our hearts - 94 years young on this plant, but I strongly believe, even forever wouldn't have been enough time with you. Rest easily grama - until we meet again.

“What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone, but what is woven into the lives of others.” - Thucydides
Doreen was a woman of impeccable honor, respect, integrity, and adventure. She loved her family fiercely, gave her time to anyone freely, and could captivate your attention in conversation easily. Her loving, kind, selfless personality is something we all enjoyed every time you were blessed to be in her presence. We feel honored she was willing to make so many trips to “the states” Scranton, Pa to spend time with our family. She was simply a joy to be around, and her smile could certainly light up a room. She just had a way, a natural way to make you feel loved. ❤️ God granted her with a beautiful family, a long blessed life, and we are sure welcomed her into Heaven with open arms surrounded by her family and friends who were awaiting her arrival. RIP Doreen. Your legacy will certainly live on in your family, cherished memories and precious photographs that have captured your beautiful spirit to celebrate for generations to come. Keep watch over us from above, and give everyone a kiss from us here down below. ❤️
Sending all our love, prayers, and deepest sympathies to Erin, Tom, Scott, Laurie, and families. Love Always, Terri Huber, Emily Stefanac and family xoxo
