Obituary of Maureen Carol Plater

Plater, Maureen Carol Maureen Plater passed away peacefully at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital on January 1st, 2026 at the age of 78. Born in Orillia, predeceased by her parents Clayton and Doris Rumford. Loving mother to Wendy Mangoff (Scott Smith), and Colleen Hansen (Stuart). Cherished grandmother to two grandsons Joshua Alexander Mangoff and Nathaniel Carl Lewis Hansen. Maureen will be lovingly remembered as a dear sister to Sharon Denne -predeceased (Allan), and caring aunt to Darren Denne (Leah), Ian Denne (Larraine), and Kevin Denne as well as all their children. Maureen was a special cousin to Sue Shantz (Rod). She was a friend to many in her building that she lived at and enjoyed her exercise and coffee time with all her friends. Her warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the Paramedics, Emergency Department, and 1st Floor Staff of ICU for their exceptional care and compassion shown during her final days. A Celebration of Maureen’s Life will be held at the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James St E Orillia on Saturday February 28th, 2026 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Maureen’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
