Obituary of Christine Rohmann
Rohmann, Christine (1946 – 2026)
Christine Rohmann passed away peacefully at home on January 1, 2026, surrounded by love.
The cherished wife of Werner, beloved family member, and treasured friend of so many, Chris touched countless lives through her boundless kindness and extraordinary love of life.
Together with Werner, her husband for the past 55 years, Chris owned and ran the European Delicatessen on Mississaga St. for over 30 years. The deli was more than a business—it was a gathering place shaped by Chris’s generous spirit and love of community.
Chris shared her love of language and belief in the power of learning by serving for many years as President of and tutor for the Orillia Literacy Council. Countless lives were touched by her quiet but profound commitment to helping others grow and succeed.
A passionate and gifted artist, Chris found joy in creativity—gardening, painting, quilting, sewing, and knitting,—generously sharing her works with family and friends. She will be dearly missed by her painting ladies. Her creativity extended naturally into her home, where Chris was a beautiful host, known for unforgettable holiday feasts and celebrations that brought family and friends together year after year.
Above all else, Chris was devoted to her husband, Werner, to her close-knit family, and to her many friends. Always joyful and full of enthusiasm, Chris had a way of making everyone feel welcome, valued, and loved.
Chris’s legacy lives on in the many lives enriched through her friendship, creativity, service, and extraordinary love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Much gratitude to Dr. Grieve, the Bayshore nurses, and the care of Soldiers’ Memorial staff. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. Messages of condolences are welcomed at www.simcoefuneralhome.ca
