Obituary of Jacquie Shilling

Shilling, Jacqueline Dawn was born on July 5, 1964. Jacquie began her next great adventure on January 29, 2026. She was surrounded by her loving family as she found her peace. Jacquie was brought into this world by her loving mother, Lori Gainer (née Bright), daughter of Doug and Ilene Bright, and her biological father, Alan Micks (Diane) and half brother Brett (Mel) and half sister Amy. She was lovingly raised by her Papa, Pat, and Mum, Lillian Moore. Jacquie spent much of her youth living in her favourite little home at 312 East Street, alongside her favourite big brother Bill Moore “Billie” (Irene), and his sister Sherry (Steve). The Moore family provided many years of teaching—showing Jacquie what love, protection, strong values, and grit truly mean. Throughout her life, Jacquie held many titles and roles. Her favourite by far was being “Mrs. Shilling”—although perhaps not every single day during their 39 years of marriage. Jacquie was blessed to meet the love of her life, Daniel James Shilling (affectionately known as “My Dan-O”), in her early twenties. Dan and Jacquie fell in love fast and hard and lived much of their lives in that same spirit. Their love for one another taught everyone who knew them what true, unconditional love looks like. Another of Jacquie’s most cherished roles was being a forever-proud Momma to her three boys: Joshua (Andrea), Patrick (Brittany), and Cameron (Aniston). Jacquie’s happiest days were spent being a mom and enjoying the simple, good things in life—sunrises and sunsets, bonfires, walks in the woods, beach days, sporting activities, and a house full of children, both her own and many others. Most recently, one of her greatest joys was the title of “Grams” to Mia and Cooper. No other title in her life brought her heart and soul such peace and joy than to be called that of “Grams”. Rama was Jacquie’s longest and most cherished home. She spent more than 40 years within this beautiful prosperous community. To all who welcomed Jacquie and her young family from day one, she says thank you. To the community of the Chippewas of Rama First Nation—Miigwech. It was Jacquie’s honour and pleasure to call Rama home, where she and Dan raised their beautiful family. Over the past four years, home to Dan and Jacquie has been the Rama Seniors. They would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Rama First Nation, Chief and Council, and all of the very special staff who have become family to them. Jacquie will be deeply missed by her many special nieces, nephews, and friends—near and far—who were blessed to love her throughout her life. Jacquie’s favorite “things” to gather was that of her lifelong friendships. Too many to name, but with a heart overflowing with joy a special thank you to her lifelong friend and chosen sister, “My Lor” (Lori Pearn), Mr. Rod Wells, Michelle and Sean Hudson, John and Marlene Oldham and the late but held, oh so dear, Ann Tuzyk and her loving husband, Peter. Thank you to everyone who enriched her life in so many blessed ways. Jacquie’s motto was simple and heartfelt: “I have been blessed!” She was a free-spirited, old-soul gypsy at heart—someone who moved through the world with deep gratitude, quiet wisdom, and an open, loving heart. She saw beauty where others overlooked it, felt deeply, loved fiercely, and lived guided by intuition, compassion, and an unshakable belief in the goodness of people. Kindness came naturally to Jacquie. It appeared in small, meaningful ways: a listening ear, a gentle word, a soulful laugh, and a comforting presence. She had a rare gift for making others feel seen and accepted exactly as they were. Her spirit was adventurous yet grounded, mystical yet deeply human—forever drawn to connection, nature, and the unseen threads that bind us all. Though her time here was far too short, the impact of Jacquie’s life is lasting. Love was her legacy. Gratitude was her language. Light was her signature. Those who were fortunate enough to know her will carry her spirit forward—in memories, in stories, and in the quiet moments when the heart feels guided rather than alone. Gone too soon, but never gone from us. May you, Jacqueline Dawn Shilling, roam freely now, wrapped in peace, love, and eternal light. We who know and love you are the ones most blessed because of you. Baamaa pii, our Jac. We will always keep you in the light.
