Obituary of Lee Wassell

Wassell, Lee It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and cousin at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital on Wednesday March 25, 2026 at the age of 57. Lee was born in Scarborough and spent most of her life in Orillia. Beloved and cherished wife of Rick Wassell for 36 years and the loving and devoted mother of Alicia Rinaldi (Will) and Brett Wassell (Courtney). She was the proud grandmother of Kinslee and Morgan Rinaldi and Fionn Wassell; her kids, grandkids and family meant the world to her. Lee is the cherished daughter of Marie and the late Ernie Waters and the daughter in law of Sandy and George Wassell. Dear sister of Lorrie Hartley (Steve) and Mike Waters (Renee), Lee will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews, family and friends. Lee started playing hockey in her 30’s and had a real passion for the game and made many lifelong friendships through the Orillia Girls Hockey Association. Lee worked at Trillium Manor in Orillia for over 25 years and made many great friends and had a passion for serving the seniors. A Celebration of Lee’s life will be held at the Orillia Fairgrounds, 4500 Fairgrounds Rd in Severn on Saturday April 18th, 2026 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Fly with the cardinals, coo with the doves and keep your stick on the ice my love. Lee loved, cherished and was so proud of her 3 grandkids. In lieu of flowers we have set up an education fund for them to remember her by.
