Obituary of Christina Margaret Pestell

Pestell, Christina Margaret We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Christina Margaret Pestell (née Sangster) at Mariposa House Hospice in Severn on the morning of Tuesday, April 14 after a battle with cancer. Loving wife to Greg, little sister to Gordon Sangster (Marie), she was predeceased by her parents Margaret and James Sangster and her mother-in-law, Pauline Pestell. She will be fondly remembered by her sister-in-law, Cathy (Brian) and will be greatly missed by her nieces Emily (Todd), Laura (Jon), Danielle (Marcel), Nicolle (Michael), and Petrina and their children Margaret, Reece, Jack, Maeve, Shayla, and Autumn. Christina also leaves behind her much-loved dog, Stanley. Christina was a dedicated teacher and worked for several school boards before joining Simcoe County District School Board. After retiring from teaching, she joined the staff at the Orillia Public Library, where she will be remembered as someone who always showed generosity, care, and consideration for others. Her life was a testament to her faith, and she dedicated her time to helping others with kindness. Her commitment to her community and church through her countless volunteer efforts showed how selfless she was; she gave her time, energy, and love without expecting anything in return. Christina loved to travel and explored many national parks across Canada and the US with Greg. She was also an amazing crafter and quilt maker and blessed many with her beautiful creations. The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at Mariposa House Hospice for their wonderful care. Visitation will be held on Saturday April 18th, 2026 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. followed by a service and reception at Emmanuel Orillia Church, 300 Coldwater Road West, Orillia. In lieu of flowers, Chris has requested donations be made to the Emmanuel Orillia - Love the City Fund.
