Cotton, Dorothy Peacefully at Soldiers Memorial Hospital Orillia on Saturday May 9th 2020 in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late Leonard Cotton for 58 years. Much loved mother of Bruce and his wife Lydia of Calgary, David of Orillia, Craig and his wife Linda of Orillia and Lloyd and his wife Diana of Orillia. Loving grandmother of James (Giselle), Kathryn, Kara, Kendra, Michelle and Krista (Jeff). Proud great grandmother to Audrey and Aliza. Predeceased by her parents George and Mary Jamieson (Jackett) and her brothers Norm, Bill and Art and sister Hazel.Dorothy will be fondly remembered by her family and many friends. Dorothy was born in Orillia. For many years her parents operated a poultry farm on the Rama Road. When Dorothy was 18, her mother died and she left her job at OTACO to help her father run the farm and raise her brothers and sister. In 1954, Dorothy married Leonard Cotton of Toronto where they lived for the next fifteen years raising four boys. Summers were spent at the cottage on Mariposa Beach Lake Couchiching. The family moved to Orillia permanently in 1969. For several years Dorothy worked at Geneva Park. In retirement, Dad and Mom enjoyed their winters at Blue Jay Estates in Palm Harbour Florida. Dorothy always enjoyed the company of family and friends. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Birchmere Retirement Residence for the care and support provided to Dorothy over the past four years and to her physician Dr. Orest Sochaniwsky for his many years of dedicated service. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be announced and held at a later date.
