Maier, Johann ‘John’

On Tuesday, August 1st, John Maier, of Severn Bridge passed away at the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, in his 85th year. He was the cherished husband of Johanna (nee Just) for 64 years. Much loved father of Dieter Maier (Judi), and Darlene Young (Dale Dickerson). Beloved Opa of Lesley Hoffman (Brian), Lindsey Maier; Great Opa of Liliana. He will be lovingly remembered by family and friends. John fought a long, hard battle with kidney disease, undergoing a kidney transplant in 1998 which gave him many more years of good health and the ability to travel once again. John was the founder and owner of Orillia Precast Concrete for many years and was instrumental in developing accessories for the precast industry which are used to this day. Many thanks to the nursing staff at the dialysis unit and Harvie 4, as well as Dr. Sochaniwskyj for all of their compassionate care.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James St. E. Orillia on Wednesday August 9th, 2017 from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. Tributes will be held at 1:00 p.m. Interment St. Luke’s Cemetery, Hamlet Severn Bridge.
