Obituary of Robert Jack
Jack: Robert Brown
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Jack, on Saturday June 9th, 2012, at Trillium Manor. Robert was born on June 10th, 1926 in Scotland, to James and Jeanie Jack, the youngest of nine children. In 1958 he left the police force in Scotland and came to Canada. He joined the Canadian National Railway and retired as Superintendent of Investigations in Toronto. His greatest joy in life was his family. He leaves behind his devoted wife and best friend of 63 years, Helen, his cherished daughter Carol Beer (Rob) and his late son James. He was so proud of his grandchildren Aimee and Rob and adored his baby great-grandson Jack, who to his delight, recently learned to say, "Bobby." He was much-loved by his relatives in Scotland. Cremation has taken place and at his request there will be no visitation or service. Robert's ashes will be returned to his native Scotland to be laid to rest beside his parents and his son. Robert, an avid reader of Robert Burns, Scotland's National Poet, lived up to the following verse by Burns.
An honest man here lies at rest,
As e'er God his image blest:
The friend of man, the friend of truth,
The friend of age, and guide of youth:
Few hearts like his- with virtue warm'd,
Few heads with knowledge so inform'd:
If there's another world, he lives in bliss;
If there is none, he made the best of this.
Donations to Trillium Manor or Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital would be appreciated by the family and will be received by the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James St E, Orillia L3V 1L1 705-327-0221. Messages of condolence are welcomed at www.simcoefuneralhome.ca
