Obituary of Doug Cook
Cook, Douglas William
On June 15, 2019, just before midnight, our Dad and Poppa left us to join his son and many friends and family on the other side.
Born in Kitchener on July 11, 1931, Doug was the second eldest son of Roy and Lavina Cook. He left home at 13 to seek his fortune. He worked in factories, on farms and whenever possible he drove a truck. Driving was his passion. It lead him to Orillia where he met his beloved Shirley Grayston. They married April 18, 1953.
Doug is survived by his dear wife Shirley and his children Cheryl (John), Karen (Bill), Susan, Linda and daughter in law Sharon. He is pre deceased by his son Rick (2010).
Poppa will be sadly missed by grandchildren Matt, Greg (Heather), Michelle, Danielle, Nick (Laura), Alex (Teri) and great grandchildren Jack and Zoe.
He will also be missed by sisters Jean, Joyce (Gerry), sister in law Wilma, and brothers in law Garry (Pat), Gerald. He is pre deceased by sisters Patricia, Jackie and brother Ken. Doug will be dearly missed by his nieces, nephews, family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at St. David’s Anglican~Lutheran Church, 133 James St. E Orillia on Sunday June 23rd, from 2-4 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the church on Monday June 24th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations to the Comfie Cat Shelter, St. David's Anglican Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice would be appreciated, and may be made through the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James St. E Orillia.
