Tribute to Mom
• Celebration of life my moms’ life is what we are here today, celebration of a whole life in only one day
• Most people would say how little you know about me
• Like a lot of women in this world you were better than you gave yourself
I would like to share the following memories of my mom:
...
• Magical in the kitchen my mom created german meals for us like: cabbage rolls, goulash, potatoes, rouladen with healthy salads or vegetables
• While we were out playing getting fresh air she seemed to appear as a magician creating the meals she did. "Shazam", they were on the table a delicious smell coming down the hall to the kitchen
• Even sometimes seeping through the windows to coax us inside for dinner
...
• One of my greatest memories growing up with my mom was that she dug in the garden all times of day and watered it as well. Nurturing it the best she could. You consistently seemed to make it one of the most beautiful gardens around
• Thank-you mom you always made sure there was a lushes full bed of daisies for my birthday
...
• Mom also got us to laugh with different german sayings songs and poems, she had many here is one I will share
• “Ich friere das ich schwitze in diese kaltenhitze” which means in english “I am freezing so much I am sweating in this cold heat”
• Although this never made sense it always made me laugh
...
• People who love us are not always right but who are we to judge them
• We can only stand on our own too feet and do our best with our actions
• Love one another however most importantly love ourselves too
...
• There is a legacy of your life mom now that you are with papa that will endure forever
• You embraced your countless hardships of life with the ever changing world
• It hurt it really ached my soul how mom your health had fallen in the last days of your life
• It felt like a piece of my heart had been ripped off of me
• Now I know you are in a peaceful place watching over me
with papa
...
• In the german language where my mom was born into a more formal name for mother is "mutterchen"
• In the last days of her life I addressed her as mutterchen
• I love you forever, I love you for always my mutterchen you will be
• Thank-you to everyone for your prayers, words, thoughts and actions helping our family through this
challenging time.
• Although our hearts are breaking your shoulders are there for us.
• May Rita Marie Grotsch rest in peace. (Ruhe in Frieden)
In loving memory
from daughter Heidi

We came to know your mother as she walked by our street on her way downtown. She always had a kind word and a friendly little chat with us and our dog, Spike. We already miss her presence in our community. We are so sorry for your great loss and our thoughts are with you during this sad time.

To Rita's family - I had the privilege of being the Director of the Seniors Centre at St. Andrews a number of years ago when your Mom started coming to the Centre each Thursday . She participated in the various activities, made new friends and enjoyed the hot noon meal and we enjoyed getting to know her.My thought and prayers are with you as you celebrate her life on Friday .

Dear David, Frank, Gerry and Heidi;
We will always remember your mother with fondness as she and your father were stalwart members of Holy Cross Lutheran Mission for many years when I was the deaconess there. Your mother was a very private person, but she enjoyed socializing and coffee at Mariposa Market ("just half a cup") and was a friendly face well-known in downtown Orillia. Life wasn't the same for her after Gunter died--some of her joy was gone--but she loved her children and grandchildren and was proud of you all, and she absolutely LOVED it when you visited. It made her day.
Thinking of you all,
Pam and Mike Harrington
