Dear Sheilagh and family,
Ray was a kind, inquisitive man with a big smile. It was a pleasure to refer patients to Ray because of his clinical expertise and dedication. I knew my patients would be well cared for. I was grateful for the teaching points that Ray passed along. I enjoyed hearing about his second career as a tennis pro and renowned local bird watcher.
My condolences to your family. He will be missed.

Ray was my opthamologist years back when I started having difficulties with my vision due to a rare condition. He was very caring and had an excellent sense of humour which always put me at ease. He was very forthright and pulled no punches in letting me know the prognosis of my condition, which helped me deal with my ongoing vision problem.
We both shaered a love of horticulture and nature, and he encouraged me to join, at that time, the Orillia Hoticultural Society. I even put my garden on the list of those to visit one year, though it was in no way camparitive to others on the same tour. It did have one feature that Ray made a point of mentioning, and that was a very tiny pond I had dug at the outflow for our sump-pump which had as a resident that summer, a solitary bullfrog. I felt very proud anyone had noticed, but of course he had. He was that kind of guy. He even brought it up as one of the highlights of the tour!.
I also enjoyed chatting with him at meetings of the Historical Society, and he once took me on a tour of his bluebird houses.
I was disappointed when he retired and I had to go to another opthamologist.
He was one of the last great generations, and the world was a better place with him in it.

Ray was a classmate -- Western Meds '61. He was a gentle man with a soft-spoken sense of humour. Time and distance meant that I saw little of him over the years, but he did entrust me with the care of his father at one point. He was just as gentle and kind as his son. I know Ray will be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. My condolences to his family.

Much sympathy to Sheilagh and the Kiff family on the loss of your brother, father and grandfather.
Ray was a respected member of the medical staff at Soldiers', where we appreciated his role as a consultant in ophthalmology.
I was always intrigued and impressed by his fascination with bird watching and his contribution to re-establishing bluebird populations in our area.
Sincere condolences at this difficult time,
Nancy (Harris) and Tony (Reid)
(former colleagues at OSMH)

Condolences to Ray's family, friends and, indeed, to all of us who were positively affected by this great man. I met Ray at the YMCA in 1989 or so and he became a kind friend and a form of mentor to me (at a time in my life when I really benefited from the same). I'm thankful for the positive effect he had on me then. Sad though I am to hear of his passing, I have happy memories of our going birding together, of our playing squash (he usually won), of his sense of humour, his gentle and friendly chuckle and of his interest in others. (Reading, in the notice, about the ever-present Bic pen made me smile with the memory of it). Ray will be missed. Ray will be remembered. Kent Mercer.

I am sorry to hear about Dr. Kiff's passing and send condolences to his family. Dr. Kiff's name was well known in our family as my father, Graham was a longtime patient. He had the utmost respect for Dr. Kiff as a professional, who treated my father's deteriorating eyesight over the years.I just wanted to say thank you for Dr. Kiff's dedication as a doctor in his very lengthy career. Sincerely, Leslie Card
