Obituary of Margaret Duhig

DUHIG, MARGARET 1928-2012 Peggy Duhig (née Arnold) passed away at home in her sleep Wednesday, October 24. Much loved for 60 years by Charles (Clair) Duhig, wonderful mother to David Duhig (Yvonne) of Seagrave, Karen McCullough (Tom) of Toronto, Lisa Duhig (Scott Hewitt) of Sunderland and the late Michael Duhig (Charlene) of Orillia, and dear grandma to John, Janet, Kate, Ben, Mitchell and Marshall. Peggy was born and raised in Listowel, daughter of Margaret Rogers and Howard Arnold, granddaughter of William and Margaret Rogers (née Dixon). Young Peggy Arnold entered high school at age 12 and went on to excel in all subjects, but especially English, French and Latin. This led her to a jack-of-all-trades job at the Listowel Banner, where she was a copywriter, assistant and sometime reporter. As Peggy wished, she has been cremated and a private gathering will be held. To honour Peggy, friends may leave memories and words of condolence at www.simcoefuneralhome.ca. Memorial donations may be made to Yonge Street Mission, a charity Peggy supported for many yearsor the Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital Foundation The family thanks Dr. Tibor Harmathy, and the visiting nurses and caregivers, for the great care they gave Peggy during these last weeks.
