Obituary of Gerry Worth

Worth, Gerald Irving Gerry Worth, gone home to be with his Lord on Thursday, August 27th with his wife and sons by his side at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital. Gerry is survived by his loving wife Nona of 55 years, beloved sons Steve (Terri), Mike (Joanne) and Darrell and by their two wonderful grandsons Nick (Nicole/Kayden) and Aiden and sister Lynda (David). Predeceased by his parents Thelma and Lambert and brother Jim. Gerry's last 20 years of his working career with Ontario Hydro was as a Customer Service Training Supervisor for the province. After retirement, he was able to devote his time to the many things he enjoyed: golf, time with his grandsons, helping family and friends, his charities and his love of Gospel music. Gerry was lead/tenor singer in the Saints Quartet for17years. He and his wife continued their music ministry, cutting a CD for their 40th wedding anniversary. In addition to being on the board of other Charities, Gerry was a dedicated Chairperson and coach in both Orangeville and Orillia Special Olympics for more than 25 years. He was assistant coach for 2 summers with the Orillia Stallions football team. He so enjoyed seeing the maturing and development of young people, both in their sport and in their team relationships through hard work and commitment. Despite his limitations in the past couple of years, Gerry retained his wonderful smile and kind personality and was known as a “Sweet Man” to many of the PSWs who cared for him.
