Obituary of Richard Drew Brooks

Brooks, Richard Drew August 23, 1963 - December 28 2020 BROOKS, Richard (Rick) Drew. It is with great sadness that the family of Rick announce his sudden passing on December 28, 2020. Son of Evelyn and Murray, he leaves behind his three children David, Beth (Nigel), Tyler (Laura) and their son Declan; his siblings Paul, Diane and predeceased by his brother Bruce; several nephews and their children. Friends and family will remember Rick’s passion for music, art and photography, as well as his sense of humour and desire to make everyone laugh. He was a lover of the outdoors and was most at home in a tent in the woods or paddling a canoe. Rick was very excited to be a Grandfather, and became one a day after his own birthday this past year. He had a special bond with his nephew, Andrew and his 3 daughters: Natalie, Addison, and Hadley. He was happiest among friends and family. However, due to the current restrictions, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Rick's favourite symbol was a lighthouse: it represents hope and a safe harbour, and that is what his family and friends meant to him. Rick cared deeply about working with and providing care for Orillia's homeless and vulnerable. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Lighthouse shelter in Orillia. If desired, memorial donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation may be made through the Simcoe Funeral Home 38 James Street East Orillia L3V 1L1, 705 327-0221.
