We are thinking of you. Susan was a spunky lady never apparently afraid to try her hand at anything to support her family. Love to Emily and David.

My thoughts and prayers are with Susan's children. I met Susan at a Renew Weekend in Newmarket, roomed with her and instantly fell in love with her, she had spunk and I admired that about her. She adored her children and always spoke about them and how they were doing. Susan will be missed.

I hired Susan to work in the VIP Lounge at Casino Rama. It was one of the best decisions I made. She was wonderful to work with, always happy & upbeat;. She will be greatly missed.

Words cannot express how much I will miss Susan. She started out as a friend of my sister Laurie, who would visit Jerry and I, with her 2 little children. She became one of my dearest and best friends. Maybe it changed with all the hot-tubs and laughs we had…. who goes to visit people at her workplace on her day off.
I will forever hear her voice, call David or yelling Google find my phone.
One of my fondest memories of Susan was having hot pizza delivered to the beach in Cape Cod.
Later as we sat watching the sunset, waiting for the tide to touch our toes. I took this picture of Laurie, Susan and my toes in the sand, as we talked, laughed, planned our next adventure, and the furniture re-arranging we would do when we got home.
Remember that day and all the days spent with Susan will always make me smile. Good Bye my Friend.

Susan always teased me about being vegan, an animal activist, protecting the natural world, but she'd be touched to have a tree planted in her honour.

Dear Emily and David, Karen just told me of the passing of your amazing Mom. This is crushing, heartbreaking, shocking news. A woman with so much flavour, colour, and life can't be gone!
I'm so sorry. I wish I could give the two of you a huge hug. This is hard, hard pain you're going through right now.
Your Mom…what a character! A chronic tease, you always knew where you stood with her, and that huge, generous heart of hers.
She really came to my rescue at a time in my life when I truly had nowhere else to turn. My kids and I were living an absolute nightmare. Instead of slowly backing away and not making eye contact, she went above and beyond to lend some normalcy to our lives and also to help extricate me from a very serious situation. She insisted that I allow her to help. I will be forever grateful to her. She's a true friend.
It was like a kick to the heart hearing the news. We had reconnected on Facebook and I looked forward to getting together and taking a stroll down Memory Lane. Loyal, someone you could count on, full of fun and mischief, humble, tough, and deeply loving, proud, and protective of the two of you.
I miss her. I'm so sad for the two of you. Please, if you feel there's something I can help you with, reach out to me.

I met Susan in 1970 on Crawford beach. We were cottagers. I looked up to her as she was a few years older. She had a LiL motorized dirt bike & would ride up & down the road and i envied her! We picked wildflowers with another youngster at the cottages, Stephanie. And we dried the flowers & tried making pictures with them. In adulthood our kids then knew each-other, & swam together at Crawford beach. When my hubby died Susan helped me, as that was her kind nature! Susan lives on in her kids Emily & David....she was so proud! God rest her soul.

When I moved to Pettit Drive at 6 years of age, Susan lived across the road. We were the same age and were in the same grade and went to Silver Creek P.S., Dixon Grove & Kipling Collegiate together. We also car pooled to Humber College. I remember all the years playing in the backyard in her screened in porch, her pinball machine, the player piano and the great parties in college in her basement. Also lots of riding around in the dune buggy which would sometimes break down and we would end up pushing it back to her driveway so her dad could fix it. We had fun times at their cottage in Brechin particularly running through the fields of cows down the road. I remember Sue's mom and dad, Joan and Andy who were always welcoming to friends and their little grey poodle. We drifted apart but had kept touch a number of times through our adulthood but not for the past few years. I am so very sorry for her loss for her children Emily and David. I will remember her as fun loving, quick witted and with a great laugh. My sincere sympathy to family and friends.

Emily & David,
We are so sorry to hear about your Mom. You were her pride and joy. We met Susan when Bev and Emily became friends and classmates in Grade 3 at Lady Mackenzie. Right away, we also became friends and she made us feel like part of her family.
We remember the fun we had at the CNE with your family. She made Emily’s birthday parties special. Many glasses of wine shared with conversations in which you could talk about anything and everything.
Her warmth, compassion, and laugh always put a smile on your face. She was truly an exceptional mother, and a strong and independent woman.
We are just around the corner for you if you need anything. We will all miss her.
Maureen, Mark & Bev

I was Susie's neighbour growing up across the street. My sister, Cathy, was her childhood friend, and I'm about 5 years younger than both of them. I remember Susan giving the younger kids rides in her dune buggy, and going to the Santa Claus parade with her dad Andy who worked with cars and could provide car seats and blankets on the sidewalk! She had lots of patience with younger kids and sometimes the Vints let the us kids play in their covered backyard porch. We all remember Susan’s voice and laugh, and want to let her children know that Susan was very special and we are so sad to hear of the news.
Pictured: Susan on the right, with my sister Cathy, in our backyard ice rink, across the street from the Vints.

Emily and David, you do not know me, but I lived next door to your mother on Pettit Drive when I was growing up way back in the 1970’s. My twin sister, Lynn, and I were five years younger than your mom and our sister, Karen, was another three years younger than us. Your mom used to babysit us when our parents went out.
We loved when your Mom would play with us. A memory that still sticks with me is when she would sit on me and drape her long hair in my face which was so ticklish. She would keep doing it as I laughed and screamed! I remember she had the coolest dune buggy that she would take us out for rides in. Her house had other cool stuff like a pinball machine, a cool piano that played by itself when you pumped the pedals and a neat back porch we loved to play house in. When we were older she got us a small job helping her out with inventory at a local pharmacy.
I just wanted to tell you she was a wonderful person who made us feel so special even though we were quite a bit younger than her. I am so very sorry for your loss.

I was honoured to have met Susan and worked with her. I will always remember Susan with a smile on her face. Susan was a hard worker, and ran her shift well. We had many laughs at work, and we worked well together she was a dependable support. I will miss Susan very much along with all of the others that loved and respected her. We are heartbroken to let you go Susan, but you will no longer have to suffer. Rest In Peace my friend.

I worked with your Mom at Timmies in Casino Rama. I will always remember her smile and her red lipstick, how she loved wearing it. You always knew when your Mom was there with her bigger than life laugh. I am going to miss her at work. It will not be the same. My prayers and thoughts are with you. Just remember you were her life and she never forgot to bring you something home after her shift was over. RIP Susan. I will miss you!!!

I knew my cousin in spot encounters through our lives. As a baby while her brother suffered childhood cancer; the dreadful early loss of her mother, my Aunt Joan; the enormous pride in her of her sweet father Uncle Andy; her battles as a proud, confident, joyful young woman and mother. We met again on my return to Canada, and reunited to share a couple of laughter-filled outings with her outstanding young children, readying for school. Then we lost touch, or rather I did. But memories of her strength, admirable sisterhood, accomplished womanhood, all wreathed in a throaty ready laugh and sparkling eyes - these remain with me. I pledge my support to Emily and David if needed. I can only imagine their pain at this untimely tragic loss.

This is my favourite picture of you two with me and my mom. Your mom gave it to me for my memories of my mom. It’s on my fridge so I see it every day. I give it back to you for your memories of your mom! Love you both so much! Hugs!!!!
