Obituary of David John Murray

David John Murray 1938-2021 It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we mourn the sudden passing of David John Murray of Oro-Medonte on April 5th, 2021 at the age of 83 years. David was born in Paris Ontario to John Murray and Dorothy (nee Sheppard). He was the beloved partner and soul mate of Wilhelmina Wigg for 30 loving years and proud supporter of her daughter Susan and partner Andrea. Father to daughters Cary (Chris) of New Hamburg ON, Janet (Peter) of Drumbo ON, Jacki (Steve) of Cambridge ON, Judy (Chris) of Cambridge ON, Showna (Malcolm) of Guelph ON, Vikki (Harold) of Arthur ON and son Michael (Angelina) of Waterloo ON. David will be greatly missed by his brothers Bill (Dorothy predeceased) and Ken (Kathy) both residing in Sauble Beach ON. David, or “Davey”, to those who knew him best, loved life and was always generous to others with his time and many talents. As a community minded man, he was a volunteer fire fighter and he entertained thousands nationally and internationally as a trumpet player in the Ayr Brass Band (Ayr ON), over many years. David started his working career with this father at Paris Kitchens ON and then became a road grader mechanic at Wabco in Paris where he helped many as a fair and open shop steward. He experienced life as a service man for Equipment Sales and Service then decided to partner and create Swance and Murray Ltd providing grading and grader repair services. Finally, he ventured on his own with Dave Murray Ltd specializing in grader repair and service. As a talented mechanic one often found him engaged in assisting Antique Car enthusiasts with troublesome repairs. Turning his hand back to cabinet making as a hobby in later years, he enjoyed producing many fine custom furnishings for friends and family (often with “phone a friend” assistance from his younger brother Ken). To Davey, a job wasn’t worth doing if it wasn’t done right and with care. Always with a warm smile and truly loving heart his companionship and friendship will forever live on in our hearts and thoughts. We miss him, the wonderful man we all knew as, our Davey.
