Corbin Hendrick posted a condolence

I remember a time many years ago when Mike flew from Toronto to Windsor to spend a few weeks at our house in the summer .
Mike was probably about 9 or 10 years old.
In those days air travel was a big deal and people dressed up to fly on a plane.
I guess the accommodations at our place where to his liking because when it came time to fly home there was no way that Mike could get his pants done up.As I recall the fly only went up about half way.
I believe that Mike was one of the first to wear an untucked dress shirt as a fashion statement .
Mike you were a breath of fresh air and you will be missed.

Mike was the second person that I met at Don Valley North Toyota, the receptionist Lynn being the first. That was in 1982, and then Mike taught and mentored me how to successfully sell automobiles. Mike also provided my first break into management in 1985. I am certain, that, without Mike's guidance, I wouldn't be anywhere where I am today. At minimum, I owe Mike that statement.
Mike lived and played hard, and at times, left it all out on the field. We would drink out his entire hotel room bar and figure out how to cover the cost later. I could write paragraphs of the adventures that Mike, I, and the other members of our sales team had. Yet Mike always provided cover for all of us, and we felt 100% secure under his guidance.
Mike's legacy should be on how he lived and how he positively impacted the lives of many people. (More people should be writing here!) When I think of Mike I only smile and remember crazy and wonderful things. Rest in peace Hosegate.

My deepest condolences to the Holgate family and Mike's friends.
Mike hired me into the Toyota world back in May 1985.He was my first boss,he was a brillant
teacher.I could not have asked for a better education,Mike always had a way of taking a tough situtaion ,breaking it down and coming up with a positve solution.
We also had alot of fun together!
my regret is that I did not tell Mike what a great influence he was on me and how much I admired him.
Rest in peace my friend.

My condolences to Mike's family. As a patron at Rama I can attest to Mike being the one to go above and beyond to help us out whenever he could. May all your treasured memories bring you lots of smiles and some good laughs too as you reminisce ... and to Pam, Mike and I so often spoke of your many great trips to Mexico as it was one of my favourite holiday destinations too. You will be missed Mike!
