Obituary of Ralph Norman Young
Ralph Norman Young 1941-2021
“Keep on the sunny side, Always on the sunny side”
His life was well lived and he was well-loved! The Lord called him home in a peaceful manner at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital, with caring staff by his side on July, 16, 2021in his 80th year. Ralph was a wonderful, caring, loving, and gentle man who left a lasting impact in everyone's heart who got the chance to meet him and he will forever be missed. Ralph will now be joining his wife Dixie Young who he has missed very deeply. He will be greeted by his parents, siblings, and many friends that he did not get nearly enough time with.
Family was what he was most proud of. He was honored to be a father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He leaves behind his children Karen Young, Jo-Ann Leek (Jeff), Cathy Blunt (Randy), and Janice Payne (Brian). He will be greatly missed by 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren who adored sharing memories and stories with him. Ralph will be missed by ex-wife Patricia Falconer. Ralph was a great companion to his beloved dogs Oliver and Charlie who will continue to search for him. Their very best friend! Born in Minto, New Brunswick in 1941, Ralph spent his life as a hardworking, dedicated, compassionate, and loving man.
He was a veteran who served in The Congo and Churchill, Manitoba as a Communications Officer. For his efforts, he was awarded the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal and UN Organization in Congo Medal. After serving he had several jobs providing for his family and before his retirement, he worked as a Commissioners Officer for the Commissioner’s Office
of the Attorney General of New Brunswick. In 2012 Ralph was honored to accept the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for his significant contribution to his country and community. He was an avid Dart Champion, a Crib player, and a great Chess player/teacher. He also was a great storyteller and jokester.
Ralph wanted no service. A Private Celebration of Life will be held for immediate family. In lieu of flowers and for those who wish to make memorial donations we ask you to consider donating to The Alzheimer's Society or the Canadian Legacy Project (organization for Canadian Veterans) in Ralph's name.
