Obituary of Wayne Raymond Scott
Scott, Wayne Raymond; BA, M.S.Ed, CMS
April 20, 1941 – October 11, 2021
Passed away suddenly at his home on Thanksgiving Day. Best friend, co-adventurer and life partner of Elaine. Loving and proud father of Ryan and daughter-in-law Sanya. Adoring grandfather to his “pals” Evan, Naiya and Ariana. Dear brother of Paul (Joan) and Gordon (Linda).
Wayne enjoyed his many years at the Peel Board of Education as both Teacher and Vice Principal. Following retirement when Wayne and Elaine moved from Brampton to Oro Medonte, he remained very active in his volunteer work at the Leacock Museum and Orillia Canada Day. His interest in literature and history prompted him to join the Leacock Associates where he served as Chair for 2 years.
Wayne then became a certified Curator after taking the Ontario Museum Association's many courses. The Coldwater Canadiana Heritage Museum provided the opportunity to put these skills to use; during his 10-year tenure as Curator and Chair, the museum flourished.
Throughout his life, art and painting were his passions. During his many decades as an educator, and in retirement, he enjoyed exploring many mediums: woodworking, watercolours, oils, and acrylics. He was constantly growing, evolving, and honing his skills; he showcased his work (often commissioned) at dozens of festivals, and shared exclusive exhibition privileges at a private gallery in Belfountain.
Wayne’s creative journey recently rounded back to his love of literature: he began to write poetry, short stories for his grandchildren, and a thesis based on his own personal experiences and thoughts as an educator.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no service or visitation.
