Gail Boyd

Obituary of Gail Marie Boyd

Boyd, Gail Marie (nee Montgomery) On April 15, 2022, in her 80th year with her husband Charles holding her hand, Gail Marie Boyd of Orillia, passed away peacefully at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital. Gail was a lady with a brilliant smile and joy that was shared with all those close to her. She was a fighter and fought multiple rounds of cancer. Gail is survived by her loving husband of 57 years Charles Boyd and their children, daughter Leanne Marie & her partner Ken, and son Steven & his wife Jennifer. Gail was a very special Nanny to her grandchildren Amanda Marie & her husband Adam, Stefanie, Jackson, Dannan and had just become a Great Grandmother to Alora Marie. Gail also leaves behind many brothers & sisters who loved her deeply. After her older sisters had gotten married and moved out the siblings still at home often referred to Gail as “the mother hen” as they were growing up. Gail’s mother passed when she was just 7 years old. Her parents pre-deceased Howard Stewart Montgomery & his wife Janet (nee Day). Gail’s 12 Brothers and Sisters, Ron Montgomery(predeceased) & wife (Melba), Gordon Montgomery & wife (Barbara), Dorothy Holenski (nee Montgomery), Raymond Montgomery & wife (Donna), Delreda Fraser (nee Montgomery) & husband (Peter), twin brother Gary Montgomery (pre deceased) & wife (Phyllis who had been a best friend since childhood), Donna Johnston (nee Montgomery) & husband (Larry predeceased), Carl Montgomery (predeceased) & wife (Carol), Shirley Kitchen (nee Montgomery) & husband (Rod), John Montgomery & wife (Linda), Bonnie Lynn Montgomery & her twin Barry L. Montgomery(predeceased). Gail will also be greatly missed by sister-in-laws & brother-in-laws, Douglas Boyd & wife (Gwen), Shirley Kearney & husband (Jack), Peter Boyd & wife (Marie predeceased), Donald Boyd & wife (Bette). With such a large family too many nieces & nephews to name but will all dearly miss Aunt Gail. Gail was a terrific baker and her butter tarts were sought out at family reunions. Gail enjoyed chatting with loved ones and kept in touch on her iPad. Although technology would prove to be frustrating at times she persevered. Gail loved to “play in the dirt” and every spring could be found in her backyard tending to her beautiful garden. Gail was always known to expand a flowerbed here and there. When Charlie would discover part of his lawn had shrunk to another flowerbed, she would smile at him lovingly and say “well that’s just less grass you will have to cut”. Although she would also help out with the grass cutting and loved the outdoors. Gail would go outside in the winter and help with the shoveling. She always wanted to make sure when Charlie was outside snow plowing, she stayed close by his side “just to keep an eye on him”. We would like to thank Dr. Catford, all the nurses and doctors for all the wonderful care Gail received and the support given to Charles while at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will take place on Tuesday April 26th @ 1:30pm at St. Andrew’s - St. James Cemetery in Orillia.
