Passed away peacefully at his home in Orillia to be with his Lord and Saviour with his family by his side. On Tuesday November 29th, 2022 at the age of 78. Dick was born in the Netherlands, predeceased by his parents John and Ann Planting. Beloved husband of Augusta Planting for 35 years. Loving father of Melissa Foster (Jim), Ken Planting, Pamela Planting (Ian), Jason Vandenberg (Rebecca), Matthew Vandenberg (Shannon), Ashley Planting (Eric) and the late Ken Vandenberg (2002). Proud Paka of Jessica, Ami, Katelynn, Braeden, Alexandra, Brody, Cierra, Aiden, Emily, Kasey, Brooklin, Grayson and Bennett. Great Paka of Alexia, Benjamin, Xavier, Bryson and Ireland. Dear brother of Hetty Sluys (Bill), Yvonne Hoekstra (Harry), John Planting (Mary), Irene Brinkman (Joe), Casey Planting (Kelly), and the late Annie Koning.
Dick will be fondly remembered by his family and friends. Dick worked as a Floor Installer for over 40 years. He had the type of smile that made you feel better just by seeing it. His laugh and personality drew everyone closer to him. He was the kindest man you would ever want to meet. He would do anything for anybody! He was always smiling and laughing and saw the good in everything. He always put everyone before himself. As long as his children were happy, then he was happy. Thank you for being a loving husband, father, paka, sibling and friend to us all. We will cherish the time we had with him forever... Even though you are no longer here, your bright personality will continue to live on. May you rest in peace now.
Visitation will be held at the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street E. Orillia on Sunday December 4th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday December 5th, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Interment at St. Andrews St. - James Cemetery in Orillia.
