Jack was an amazing human being - very talented and social. I knew Jack from his birth on Wheeler Avenue. I was Jack's babysitter and I took care of him with the other six siblings when the parents needed a night out. Jack was always exploring at a young age and picked up great skills in carpentry, electricity, plumbing, drywalling, general repair and landscaping. There was nothing that Jack could not do - he even knew about car repairs and how to maintain a car properly. Jack was my exclusive handy man for the last ten years. He built decks and put up gazebos in addition to completing a number of skilled trades requirements in my home. Jack was also a great painter and he loved to figure out solutions to problems and he said he would :"Maguire it to make it work" Jack helped me to maintain a large home with ease - I could also rely on him to sort and fix household repairs and new projects. Last winter he designed and renovated a laundry room, and put in pot lights and discovered a mouse had chewed the wire so the lights did not work Of course Jack got everything to work. Jack had a great eye and knew when a mouse had been around and the potential damage to the home.
I just found a message on my voice mail from Jack and he spoke with enthusiasm telling me on the voice mail that he was bringing an exercise bike from my friend's house - who was also employing Jack for his talents. Jack was always thinking of other people and he knew the exercise bike would help an overweight member of the family. All of the Jones and residents of 5 Catalina will miss Jack greatly - he sometimes just visited us to sit in the sun and have a chat. Jack's energy will continue and he will miss him and now and we will see him again.
