Recalling so many memories from childhood thru adulthood with this woman bring back the smiles and laughter shared over so many years. She had a huge impact on my life and on my daughter, her grandaughter, Caralea Melody. She was always there to provide encouraging words, give hugs, to say those 3 little words - often!, make you laugh, and so much more. SImply said, ... you just felt grateful to have her be a part of your life. I loved to hear her laugh, totally contagious! I recall the "deep" talks she and I shared during trips back home. Listening to "her story" filled you with emotions unfamiliar in her presence but certainly explained where her strength rose up from! She was an amazing woman with so many wonderful traits. I will miss the visits, the long distance calls, hearing her voice and that laugh...but will always cherish the difference she made in my life, the love she always showed, and for my "special mom" just being her good ole self!
With Love, Affection and Gratitude Always, is how I'll remember this amazing woman.

There really are no words to express all that my Aunt Monica meant and means to me. I feel incredibly blessed to have had her in life for so many years. She was like a second mother to me and was a genuinely loving and accepting human being. She was always ready with a smile or laugh to brighten someone's day. My girls (Skye and Tess) also adored her and hold tremendous respect for her. She loved them unconditionally, a gift that not everyone receives in this life. We will all miss her very much.
In spite of many losses in her lifetime, she was incredibly resilient and had an attitude that was both determined and positive. It seems that the origins of this were rooted in very early life experiences with her siblings during some incredibly difficult years. She told me once that she was one of the bad "Hayes' kids" and as a group of kids they they stuck together to help each other survive. Perhaps it was these early roots that taught her that we are all stronger together. Maybe this is where she developed her love and respect for others including her acceptance of people from all walks of life. All I know is that she could make you feel like the most important person in the world and that she genuinely cared about others.
All of my childhood memories are intertwined with my Aunt Mon and cousin Melody. I extend my deepest sympathies to all who loved her and whose lives were touched by her. She was an incredible person and I am so lucky to have had in my life fo as long as I did.
