Obituary of Mary Margaret Parkes

Parkes, Mary Margaret February 26, 1968 – March 21, 2023 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Margaret Parkes (nee Leeson) on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, in her 55th year. Mary is survived by her beloved husband Rick, her stepmother, Lynda (Hutton) Leeson, stepbrothers; Dean Thompson (Betty), and Jeremy Leeson (Renee). She is predeceased by her parents Lorraine (Keyes) and Roy Leeson; parents-in-law Dorene & Harry Parkes; stepbrothers Bill Thompson, and John (Elvira) Thompson and “mother-of-the heart”, Barbara Wonch. She will be greatly missed by her “sister-of-the-heart” Cheryl Wonch (Steve). Mary will be missed and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends and colleagues. The family would like to offer a sincere thank you to Dr. Campbell and all the staff of the Oncology Department at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital for their compassion and excellent care. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street E., Orillia on Saturday, April 15th, 2023, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Interment at Purdy's Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Terry Fox Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, or to the Comfie Cat Shelter would be greatly appreciated.
