Obituary of Sherry Lynn Ferguson

SHERRY LYNN FERGUSON April 22, 1955 – November 21, 2023 It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Sherry Ferguson on November 21, 2023, at the age of 68. Sherry was born in Collingwood and moved to Orillia with her parents when she was 4. She stayed until moving to London to attend Western University, receiving her Bachelor of Arts. Continuing her education, she moved to North Bay to get her teachers degree from Nipissing University. She spent the last 30 years living and working in Toronto doing what she loved best, teaching. She is survived by her mother Shirley Ferguson, brother Rodney (Joanne), sister Kerry Hill. Nieces Jessica (Jarod) Outridge, Gabrielle Ferguson, Rickie Jean Hill (Steve) and Randi (Joey) Stickles. 6 great nieces and 1 great nephew. Predeceased by her father Ron Ferguson and brother Bradley. Shery was a dedicated French teacher for 35 years. Starting her career in Orillia and finishing with Halton School Board. Sherry was very involved in sports, her entire life and became an active volunteer at such events as tennis matches, Pan Am games, Special Olympics and so many more. There will be a celebration of Sherry’s life in the Vimy Room at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34, 215 Mississaga Street E. Orillia on Saturday December 30, 2023 from 1pm until 3 pm, memories will be shared at 2:00 p.m. Donations to the Sharing Place (Orillia Food Bank), Salvation Army, or a Children's charity of your choice, and may be made through the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street E., Orillia (705) 327 0221.
