I met George over 20 years ago in Ottawa, we dated for a short time and remained friends until we lost contact around 2015.George once took me to see his art studio on Bank Street when we first met, he opened up his private world and showed me his art work which I encouraged him to pursue right up until we lost contact. He was quiet and very private so it felt like a privilege when he shared his work with me. My daughter was about 3 when we dated, she only met him a few times but on one occasion George sat patiently while my daughter covered his face in heart stickers. George appeared tough outwardly, seeing his face covered in heart stickers and how he smiled showed his soft side which was a side he didn't show to anyone until he got to know them. He was a frequent visitor at my parents house where he amd my dad shared more than a few beer together and we all shared alot of laughs. George was the first person to buy me flowers, he made and delivered his homemade tomato rice to my door once when I was sick. He was thoughtful, sweet and he could make me really laugh. I don't have the words to express how truly sorry I am to hear this news, my deepest sympathies to his parents and his sister. He will always have a special place in my heart. Please take care of yourselves.
