I wish I had the opportunity to know Candice better. From everything I see she was an amazing young woman and a selfless mother. My heart goes out to her husband Colin and her daughters. I did not learn of her passing or her funeral ceremony until it was too late for me to attend to meet these wonderful people . I wish them all courage to carry on and love each other

My name is Hilary Nunes and my husband is Richard Nunes. Andre Smith was my first cousin and therefore Candice was my first cousin once removed. We attended the visitation and the funeral for Candice. At times there was not a dry eye in the house. We were both very impressed with how Candice was embraced wholeheartedly by the Cruise family and I was glad that she had happy times to remember as she had difficulties to deal with in her adolescent years along with the medical challenges she endured in later life. I did not approach Collin on Wednesday as I could see that he was doing his best to hold it together. Also he does not know me. However, we do wish to impart our sincere condolences and appreciation for the love extended to her. The remaining Smith family members, who are also very affected by grief should know that our thoughts are with them also. Candice was a remarkable young woman.

For the past 21 years, Candice has been a profound and unwavering influence in my life. I have had the privilege of witnessing her tackle even the most extreme hardships with unparalleled courage and resilience, never once backing down no matter how challenging the circumstances or uncomfortable the consequences.
Candice was a truly remarkable woman - a courageous trailblazer, an amazing mother, and a steadfast partner to her husband, Collin. But beyond these remarkable roles, she was, above all else, a true lady in the truest sense of the word.
In the face of life’s most daunting obstacles, Candice met each challenge head-on with a grace and strength that just leaves you in awe. Her commitment to doing what was right never wavered. She possessed an uncompromising moral compass that inspired all who knew her to be better versions of themselves.
Candice’s unwavering spirit and boundless compassion were truly humbling to witness. Her infectious laugh and radiant smile had a way of instantly brightening any room she entered, masking any doubt or uncertainty that may lay beneath.
Candice had a remarkable ability to connect on such a deep level. She knew every inside joke and her timing and delivery was always spot on.
She was always active and totally engaged in absolutely everything we ever did as a family. Whether it was games in the car, video games, phone calls, group chats, or making silly videos together she made sure she was part of it all.
In the wake of Candice’s passing, I am left with an immense sense of gratitude for the everlasting mark she has left on my life. Her legacy will continue to guide me, reminding “me” to lead with empathy, to stand up for what is right, and to never stop striving to make a positive impact, no matter the cost.
Though she may be physically gone, Candice’s spirit will forever live on, inspiring me and countless others to carry on her work and honor her memory. Rest peacefully and in comfort, my dear sister, and know we're all going to be okay. You will be deeply missed, but can never be forgotten. You rewrote medical history!
I love you Candice.

It is with deep sadness that we learned of Candice's passing. Our sympathy and love goes out to Collin, Caitlyn, and Cameron and to all family members and loved ones that were blessed to know and have her in their lives. She was a wonderful person; kind, caring, and loving to those close to her; her passing is a deep loss for all.

Candice was a gentle, fun loving and brave warrior. Bill and I fell in love with her right away because of her sweet nature.
She will be missed. It’s so sad as she is young with two beautiful children and a loving husband. At least she is no longer suffering and I believe she watches her beloved family and is proud of them.
