Obituary of Rocky Smith

Smith, Basil “Rocky” It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Basil “Rocky” Smith, on Saturday May 25th, 2024, in his 74th year. Beloved husband of Tammy Smith (nee McCrea) for 43 years. Loving father of Shawn Yardley (Michelle), Jaqueline Yardley, Tara Smith, and Michelle Smith (Nick). Proud Papa and Grandpa of six wonderful grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Cherished big brother to all his siblings in Newfoundland and abroad. Rocky will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends. A special thank you to his medical teams throughout the years. A special mention to Dr. David Collins and his wife Sheila for their endless support and care of Basil. We will continue to walk in your footprints and path to the camp and carry you with us until we meet again. Visitation will be held at Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street E, Orillia on Saturday July 13th, 2024, from 12:00 pm until the time of the service in the chapel at 1:00 pm. A reception to follow. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations in lieu of flowers, can be made to Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital or Southlake Regional Health Centre through the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street E.
