Bonnie, Sarah & Terry,
Over some 50 years ago I first met Tom Browning as a new Conservation Officer at my Cambridge District (Lake Huron District) Office. He was single and eager to get into his patrol area. He soon proved to have all the makings of a good C.O. At Cambridge District Office (Hespeler) Tom met and fell in love with Bonnie. They had a beautiful wedding and I knew then this couple was meant to be together for a lifetime. It wasn't long until Sarah was born. I clearly remember Tom returning from the hospital to D.O. where he found me, saying "George, She's perfect !" What a smile Tommy had !!
Tom, like many C.O.'s eventually left Cambridge District to resume his duties in Huronia District, Dufferin County. This was not the end of our working together, far from it !! Each year at opening day waterfowl season at Luther Marsh, we would meet to carry out enforcement duties as Cambridge and Huronia District shared the Marsh. It was an annual chance to visit in the cruiser and staff house to update personal events from the past year.
The O.C.O.A. (Ontario Conservation Officers Association) and N.A.W.E.O.A. (North American Wildlife Enforcement Officers Association) Conventions gave us a great chance to socialize . The best N.A.W.E.O.A. Convention had to be Ottawa, and our Centennial where Huronia District hosted the event at the Chateau Laurier Hotel and the West Branch of Parliament. Tom & Bonnie had registration duties. When I registered I asked Tom "How's it going" in his so typical calm response he said "I am in over my head ". We all were Tom, but we pulled it off !!
One of our last shared events was the wedding of Sarah & Terry. I saw that same smile on Tom's face that was there when Sarah was born! It's an image I'll remember always of a great Conservation Officer and friend.
Tom: We saw a lot, we did a lot and we laughed a whole lot !!!
R.I.P. Tommy, I am proud to have served with you !!

Very sorry to learn of Tom’s passing. While it has been some years since I last saw Tom, I have good memories of our childhood years in Meaford and the good times we had during high school. My sympathies to all the family.

My deepest sympathy to Bonnie, Sarah, Terry and the Browning extended family. I met Tom in 1971 in the old Cambridge District. He was working with Joel Tost at the time and I was attempting to arrange a ride along with Joel while I was attending SSFC in Lindsay. Unfortunately I never had the chance to work with Tom but heard of his kindness and professionalism from many CO's during my career. He will be missed by many but never forgotten. Rest in Peace Tom.

It is with sadness that I hear of Tom's passing. My heart felt condolences go out to the Browning family. I had the pleasure to know and work with Tom out of Earl Rowe Provincial Park for a number of years, he was a good man and great officer, I had a lot of respect for Tom. He will be missed..

My sincerest condolences to Bonnie, Sarah, Terry and the extended Browning family. I had the pleasure of working with Tom in the old Midhurst District on spring fish runs, and later on providing him with canine services until Mike Evers took over as the dog man out of Earl Rowe Park. The Sheriff always had that quiet, unassuming way about him, never ruffled, or at least that's the impression he gave. One of the good ones.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Tom's family. I knew Tom more from MNR training and meetings and of course OCOA Conventions in the early years. It was an honour to have known him...may his memory live on.
