I can't believe it has been one year already and somehow it seems like it's been so long since I have seen your smile. I think of you everyday and you are still missed very much and will be for the rest of my life. I know you found peace and I hope a never ending party. Missing you so much Ernie. Love Ron

My deepest sympathies go out to Effie, family and friends of Ernie Doolittle. Ernie was one of a kind, a loyal friend, a humble man, a generous and fun loving individual, etc. I will personally miss our great conversations, boating/skiing, playing games/pool, listening to the big band music on the deck and all the wonderful memories at Bass Lake and in Florida. I miss you already Ernie, but until we meet again my friend.

We had the incredible honour of living next door to Ernie and Effie for almost 12 years and he was our family. His soul was filled with kindness, generosity, deep love and a respect and appreciation for his soulmate Effie that few ever witness in a lifetime. Ernie - I will carry on the tradition to find children standing on docks around the lake this summer and take them for a ski in your honour. We miss you very much and Bass Lake will never ever be the same.

My deepest sympathies to Effie and the family and friends of Mr Doolittle. He was a legend on Bass Lake. As kids, my sister and I would wait patiently on our dock for his boat to come around. I can still hear his gentle voice saying "Would you like to go for a ski?" Such a kind, kind man.

Oh my goodness, where do I start. The list of fond memories of time spent with Ernie will be forever remembered. Our fun times at the Legion playing pool and cards. The great bridge week-ends at the cottage. Never did convert him over to a Rangers fan, on our many trips to Buffalo. So gracious to give up his cottage for our honeymoon. Ernie you will always remain as a fond memory in my heart. Effie, my God find a small spot in the palm of hands for you, during your time of mourning.

Effie, sending our deepest sympathy. Ernie was a terrific person and it was a privilege to know him. Fondly remember the Burlington Legion days of snooker and cards, the Buffalo Sabres hockey games and the adventures at Bass Lake. He was one big-hearted classy guy. We will miss him.

My deepest condolences to Effie, Ernie's partner for many years, who stood by him through thick and thin. I knew Ernie for the most of my life and I never met or knew a more warmer or kinder friend. I will miss him so much with all my heart. There will be never another Ernie, I will always consider myself as one of the lucky ones who had the great pleasure of knowing you.
