We are so sorry to hear that Jean has passed away. She had a truly remarkable life and was dearly loved on this side of the Atlantic. Although we were separated by thousands of miles ‘Aunt Jean’, was so important to my family when I was growing up. I remember first meeting her when she visited us in Scarborough, Yorkshire, when I was little. It was always clear that Jean, Isabel and Jim (my Dad) were close and how after the early death of their father, they had had to stick together as a family and help their Mum. I know Jean brought that strength to her own family in Canada throughout her life. I always knew I had a real second home in Canada and back when I was a student was given a warm welcome (and great hospitality) over a long summer vacation by both Jean and Ross when I stayed with them in Scarborough, Ont. In recent years it’s been good to see Jean on her trips to Scotland. She was such a warm, positive and active person. Our condolences to all the family. We hope that although this is a sad time of loss that you are able to celebrate Jean’s rich and full life – a girl who grew up in the Garngad, Glasgow; a GI bride who made her life in a new country; a hardworking professional woman; a loving Mom, Gran, and Great Grandmother. We’ll always remember her. With love, Alistair, Carmen, Rosemary and Andrew (Scott) Killearn, Glasgow, Scotland.

I was saddened to hear of Jean's passing. She was a wonderful lady and I have so many fond memories of her when we worked together at the CIBC at Yonge and Gould. How we looked forward to our lunch hours to play euchre, how Jean loved to play. Remember the wonderful weekend at the trailer with Jean and Ross and their wonderful hospitality and more euchre.....Jean will always be remembered in my heart......Charlotte Byrnes xoxoxo
