Obituary of Archie McLeod

McLeod, Archie R. May 3, 1927 - September 6, 2014 Passed away peacefully at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia on Saturday, September 6, 2014. Archie Ray Cameron was born in Highland Park, Michigan, the son of the late Kenneth and Nina (nee Webb) McLeod on May 3, 1927. He Attended Highland Park Schools and then shortly thereafter enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a medic with the Army in Germany. Before joining the Army he began work with General Motors and then after his discharge continued working as a journeyman electrician. He worked for General Motors for 40 years retiring in 1989 from the Hydromatic Plant in Ypsilanti. Archie loved photography as a hobby and also enjoyed tinkering with his cars and working on his home and yard. In 1951 he married Norma H. Barnes and together they shared 63 years of marriage. Along with his wife, Archie is survived by his children Jean (David) Prophet, Kenneth (Sue) McLeod and Beverly (Keith) Miller. Lovingly remembered nine grandchildren, William (Barb) Prophet, Greg Prophet, Michael (Jen) Prophet, Steven (Margaret) Prophet, K.C. McLeod, Juliana McLeod, Crystal (John) Rumbell, Brittany (James) Kienker, and David Miller. Sadly missed by six great grandchildren, Kayla, Breanna, Kolton, Alyssa, Jacob and Matthew. Visitation will be held Monday, September 15, 2014 from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street E. Orillia ON and on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 visitation from 12 noon until service at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel. Luncheon to follow. Interment at Vasey Cemetery.
