Obituary of Marilyn Shortt

Shortt : Marilyn Alice (nee Lankin) (Member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Orillia and former teacher with Blackburn Hamlet Preschool, Ottawa) Died peacefully of complications due to dementia at The Pines in Bracebridge on 14 October in her 69th year. As the devoted wife of Ken Shortt, she accompanied him from Orillia, to Vancouver, Brugg (Switzerland), Ottawa, Vienna (Austria) and to retirement in Muskoka. Loving mother of Rebecca Shortt and husband Gerald Nykamp of Waterford, Alicia Webber and husband Rick of Sudbury and Jenny De Melo and husband Geoff of Ottawa. Proud grandmother of Fiona, Lana and Shane Nykamp; Lukas and Thomas Webber; and Benjamin and Thalia De Melo. Predeceased by her parents Alice and Dr. Fred Lankin. Dear sister of David Lankin (predeceased) and wife Marg of Orillia. The late Mrs. Marilyn Shortt will rest at the Simcoe Funeral Home at 38 James St. E. Orillia on Sunday, 18 October from 2-5 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 99 Peter St. N. Orillia on Monday, 19 October at 2 p.m. Cremation to follow with burial at Ullswater Cemetary, Township of Muskoka Lakes. If desired, memorial donations to the Blackburn Hamlet Preschool or the Orillia and Area Seniors' Centre c/o St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church would be gratefully appreciated.
