Obituary of Elmer Johnson
ELMER MAURICE JOHNSON (WWII veteran)
January 1, 1926 - January 1, 2011
On Saturday, January 1, 2011, his 85th birthday. Born in Belleville, Ontario. Beloved husband and best friend of Frances Alix for almost 60 years.
Dearly loved Dad to Catherine (David), Janet (Lori), Heather (Ken), Kim (Gord) and Stephen (Katherine). Best Grampa ever to his three granddaughters, Brianna, Mackenzie and Teegan, who adored visiting Grampa and Gramma at "River Bend" on the Black River.
He'll also be missed by his sister-in-law, Rosemary Fenneman and his extended family, Andy, Inge, Kyle and Meco Stothers.
Elmer graduated from Queen's University and worked with the RBC and University of Waterloo. He was President of the
Optimist Club in Scarborough and was lovingly known as "Mr. Bingo" and "E.T." at the Hideaway Bingo Hall in Whitby.
Known for the twinkle in his eye, his quick wit and sense of humour, and how he loved to joke with everyone he met. Some of his favourite things were crosswords, playing board or card games with his family, old-time jazz music (especially Frank Sinatra) and watching a good hockey game.
The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the care and kindness of Dr. Mary Trotter, as well as Dr. Markle and the ER staff at the Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital.
In accordance with Elmer's wishes, a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
