I'd like to pay tribute to a man whom I met almost 40 years ago, he was known as Bill, Dad or Poppa. There was a serious side to him but mostly we saw the smartass, jokester side. He loved to give everybody a hard time and reveled in the reaction & attention that it brought back to him. He could easily have a lengthy conversation with an absolute stranger.....and did many times no problem. When he lived in Lindsay he would open up his garage door so that the neighbors could come over and visit, they’d sit around in the overstuffed chairs and yak away the hours. He loved to tell stories, and you had to give him your full attention or you'd peeve him off and he'd go real quiet until you begged him to keep going! He loved to watch the Blue Jays and would yell at the T.V. when he felt the need to straighten out the coaches or the umpires! He also loved to give directions even if you knew where you were going, he felt you'd only find your way there if he explained the route ahead of time. Back in the day he loved to go out on the lake in his boat and catch some pickerel for dinner.....Nana made the best homemade mayo sauce, we’d slather it on a bun, with a piece of fish……mmmmm so good!
He would puff out his cheek to receive a kiss, and as soon as your lips touched his face he would let the air out making you think you popped his cheek. The grandchildren just loved this, and of course it was only their Poppa that ever did this. He really was one of a kind! He was my lotto scratch buddy and the receiver of my annual Christmas gag gift. I was his F.D.I.L. (favorite daughter in law) and he was my Phil - (favorite father in law). He has left behind a huge family with all kinds of memories so he will not be forgotten.....that's for sure!

We are so sorry for your loss. It was a pleasure knowing him. He reminded me a lot of my dad. Sorry to see him go.
Both Nana and Poppa welcomed us with open arms and made us feel like family when we visited a few years back.
