Orval( or 'Santa' as my daughter nicknamed him) was a fixture on Ramara trail for many people- including me. I looked forward to seeing him every year that I returned up my trailer in Orillia. Orval would be heading to the coffee shop and he would stop to talk. He usually had a snack for my dog so 'Ronnie' got excited when he saw Orval coming. Orval would talk about his beloved dog that had been deceased and many other things. When I didn't see him this year I was concerned but a fellow 'trail friend' of Orval's told me he hadn't been going for coffee with his cart. Then a couple of days ago this friend told me the sad news that Orval had passed away. I just wanted his family to know how much seeing him on that trail and listening to his stories meant to me. I will miss his smiling face on the trail--What a character!
