I was saddened to see Mr. Tuju's notice in my Orangeville paper where I now live.
Mr. Tuju was my grade 6 teacher in 1966/67 and was one of my very favourite teachers. He taught me to be the best I can be.
I have since found out that Mrs. Tuju worked at a school in Orangeville with my Sweet Adeline's Chorus Director Joan Borden. I also remember her very well.
My sincere condolences to Mr. Tuju's family and friends.

I too pass on my condolences to Mr. Tuju's family. He was my teacher in Grade 6 in 1965/66. Mr. Tuju was an excellent teacher and an even finer person. Karen I remember you too because you lived near Cynthia on the way to Roseland Public School. I last saw Mr. Tuju at the 75th anniversary of Roseland Public School.

Dear Carol & Family;
I wish to express my deepest sympathies in the loss of Jaan, a wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother-in-law, Friend!!!
My Thoughts and prayers are with you and all your Family.
Jaan will be missed by all. Some of my fondest memories of Jaan over the years was our annual pilgrimage to Pete’s cottage for a Golf weekend. Jaan was always the voice of reason and wealth of knowledge on any subject. Jaan was able to settle any debate long before we all looked it up on google, history, politics, sports whatever the subject. Jaan’s calm demeanor and respect for all is what we should all aspire to as citizen’s today’s world.
I will miss Jann and his great sense of humor and kind smile, Gods Speed my Friend.
Sincerely
Lou Kotnjek

I met Jaan when he was the principal of the Pine River Outdoor Education Centre and I was a last minute substitute for a group of Grade 6 students. He was so helpful and supportive to a "city woman."
Years later, he became the principal of Bala Avenue school when I was on staff there. Once again, I had the privilege of working with a supportive, empathetic person.
May the memories you have of a loving husband, father and grandfather help sustain you.

I enjoyed working with Jaan at Rawlinson Community School and as his vice-principal at Bala Community School in the City of York. In both schools, Jaan showed he cared about kids and wanted the best for them. He was always fair, he shared his enjoyment of nature, and he encouraged both students and teachers to follow their dreams. He spoke of his family with love and wore his birthday wrist watch with pride. Jaan was a good man and I am sorry for your loss.

We don't say goodbye to a dear friend/brother in law of more than 50 years. Instead we tuck away the multitude of memories that we can instantly recall at a moments notice. Jaan was a dear friend to me and my late husband Robert. Our families were intertwined throughout our lives and we will all miss him very much. Although I will not be present at the memorial, I will be there, heart and soul with my arms wrapped around my beloved sister, Carole and the rest of the family.
May Jaan now rest in peace, we love you. Janet and family.

Elsie and I were saddened to hear of Jaan's passing. Jaan and I were colleagues with the Board of Education for the City of York. I first met Jaan when we were teaching at Roseland Public School. I believe that this is where Jaan first met his future wife, Carol. His professionalism in education eventually gained him the position of Principal - a position that he was destined to achieve. His work in outdoor education at Pine River was exceptional. We want Jaan's family to know that they are in our thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time.
