Barry was a friendly, helpful individual. When I (Tom) first went to Thunder Bay in 1979 Barry, who I had known in Sault Ste. Marie through Janene's (my wife) friendship with Barry's sister, Sue, Barry was an encouragement and help to me in getting to know the city and some of the people in the churches here. It is very regretful that he has gone at such a young age. We trust He is in full attendance with His Saviour. We pray that Barry's wife and family will experience the special comfort of the Lord at this time (John 14: 16).

I received word of Barry's passing on Saturday
Evening and our thoughts are with you and the girls at this time of sorrow. It's hard to loose a loved one
at any time but at Christmas Time seems to make it even harder. We lost Mom 4 years ago on Dec. 23rd and Christmas's have not been the same since.

Dear Susan,

I have very fond memories of working with Barry at Rama Central public school. He was a very dedicated and caring teacher who was truly admired and respected by any who worked with him.

From the Broad family to the Elliott family (and the Carpenters & Nicholsons) we are so sorry to hear of your loss, and over the past few days have heard from other 'Skookum Lakers' who were fortunate enough to have known Barry and have had our, and their, lives touched by him.
Of course our great memories of Barry are all at the lake - the first one that I (Gayle) recall was the day he received a phone call telling him that he had been accepted into teacher's college, and his excitement about embarking on a career which turned out to be so well suited to his love and enjoyment of children. Tom's memories of Barry at the lake centre around him playing on the shore with children - his own and numerous other Elliotts, Carpenters, Nicholsons and Broads - introducing them to speed boats, play boats, and just enjoying the wonder of life.
Barry shared with us on many occasions, how much his life was molded and enriched by his family and faith, and since his retirement, the joy he found in being able to focus more time and energy towards both. We hope that may provide some comfort to you in this loss.
We too shall miss him, as will many, many others, whose lives he touched. Our thoughts and hearts are with you,

Barry was a cherished friend. We spent many hours together as teenagers. About 2 years ago he unexpectedly popped in to see me at the end of a long school day while he was visiting "up north." My condolences to Laura & the family. Though I never had the opportunity to meet Barry I heard nice things about him & about his service in kingdom ministry, particularly at Galilean Bible Camp. Most of all, I had the privilege to get to know Laura a little bit & to partner with her in the gospel at One Hope Canada Galilean Bilbe Camp & Conference Centre. You can learn a lot about a man from his children. In Laura's last summer on staff at Galilean, Laura stepped out of her comfort zone managing the office to take on the daunting task of program director when the director fell ill. Laura shined! She did a wonderful job and was a blessing to many - I am certain, she was a reflection not only of her Heavenly Father, but her earthly father as well. Praying for you all, during this sad time. He was the reason I got into basketball - he truly believed in me and was always so supportive and encouraging. Even after I had graduated public school and had been in highschool for 3 years - he came to my father's funeral, which truly meant so much to me.
