CALDWELL: Reta Mae Isabelle (nee Leach)
At Orillia Soldiers‘ Memorial Hospital on Friday December 29th, 2017 in her 88th year. Daughter of Sylvia Maude Ward (nee Smith) and Frederic Leach, step-daughter of Clifton Ward, all deceased. Wife of the late James Caldwell and Patrick Treacy of Michigan. Mother of Nancy (Pat Moore) Paul, and predeceased by daughters Wendy (Oleh) and Susan. Grandmother of Julie (Greg) Scanlan, Craig (Erin) Trawczynski, Jennifer Graungaard, PJ and Corey Caldwell, Brandy and Cheri Laurier. Greatgrandmother of Mackenzie, Lucas, Victoria Rose and Bronx. Beloved sister of Edward Leach (Loretta) Joan Ward, Shirley Barron (Ron) Ellen Spencer (Ron) Predeceased by sisters Ruby Penman and Gloria Leach. Missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins in Florida, special friends Nick and Dora Clemens, Beth and Bruce Clark, sisters in law Edna Caldwell and the late Kathleen Trumbley. Reta was a member of Guthrie Womens’ Institute for over 60 years, charter member of Oro-Medonte Horticultural Society and Huronia Rose Society, Accredited Judge of RBG and Garden Clubs of Ontario Horticulture and Floral Design and Canadian Rose Society. She was voted Oro-Medonte Citizen of the Year in 1999 by the Council. Reta enjoyed doing wedding flowers for over 30 years for bride, attendants, church and hall. She loved to travel to Pacific and Caribbean Islands, especially New Zealand, Fiji and St.Lucia, Mexico, Scotland, Florida, Nevada and BC (Butchart Gardens).Her hobbies were rose growing, antiques, bowling, lawn bowling and reading.
Visitation will be held at the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street E. Orillia on Saturday January 20th 2018 from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
